Useful tips during orthodontic treatment
The success of orthodontic treatment depends on the extent of cooperation and participation between the dentist and the patient. The patient must listen and follow to the necessary instructions from his dentist outside the clinic throughout the treatment period to ensure obtaining the desired result.
The following are the most important tips that you should follow:
· Make sure to attend to all your appointments as failure to attend to the appointment would increase the length of the treatment period and not obtain the desired results completely.
· Make sure to take full care of your mouth hygiene, teeth, and gum by using brush, paste, dental floss or any special tools for cleaning orthodontic appliances that your orthodontist tells you about.
· Avoid eating foods that harm the teeth and that may increase the possibility of tooth decay and gum infections.
· Avoid foods that may harm the orthodontic devices such as hard, solid and sticky foods that are difficult to remove from the surfaces of the teeth or the orthodontic devices.
· Make sure to do gum scaling and plaque removal (dental cleaning in the clinic) every six months to ensure that gum infections or any other complications do not occur.
· Be sure to use the special elastics or mobile devices that the doctor asks you for and use them completely within the period of time required of you.
· Be careful to use the post-orthodontic fixation trays in the required period in order to maintain the results of the orthodontics after the end of treatment.
